Is Watermelon Safe for Cats to Eat?
I was not sure at first but when our cat Chino started to lick and bite on the watermelon slices that is how I found out. I googled to find out if it’s not toxic to cat and I was relieved to know that it is safe.


Watermelon is safe for cats to eat
according to ASPCA ( American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) they are not poisonous.
So if you’re enjoying a couple slices of watermelon, you can rest assured that your cat will enjoy a treat as well.
But, keep the serving amount minimum.
Watermelon is one of our cat Chino’s favourite since it is smooth and juicy .


Watermelon has over 90% water content. perfect to keep your cat hydrated throughout the hot summer months, since we all know cats are notorious for not drinking enough water.
Watermelon is a great source of Vitamins A and C, These are also very important nutrients for the body.
The following is a list of nutrients present in watermelons:

●Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5)
●Biotin Vitamin B6

●Magnesium

Precaution:
1) If you want to give your cat a watermelon, then first you should remove the seeds and the rind from it. Only the juicy center part must be given to your cat .
The watermelon seeds have a substance that could be risky for your cat, such as cyanide. If she bites the seeds may cause the release of toxins that are harmful to your feline friend. It can also cause her to start vomiting. And some cases even get sick with diarrhea.
2) Don’t give your cat watermelon if she has diabetes. Diabetic cats should maintain a low sugar diet.
If your Cat have allergy problem it is better to consult your veterinarian first.
